The one rule that matters
A ticket is refundable only if the fare you booked is a refundable fare. Non-refundable fares are not refunded. In some cases certain government taxes and charges may still be recoverable — but only where the operating airline's rules allow it.
You always see whether a fare is refundable or non-refundable before you book, so you can choose the fare type that fits your plans.
How refunds work
Every ticket is issued by an operating airline, and that airline's fare rules govern whether — and how much of — your ticket can be refunded. Flighterz does not set these rules; we facilitate your request, apply the airline's terms, and process the outcome.
Flighterz is a travel-technology platform operated by Middle East Marina Company. When you cancel, we submit the request to the airline on your behalf and return any refund the airline approves.
Refundable vs non-refundable fares
Airlines sell the same route at different fare types. A refundable fare can be cancelled for a refund, usually minus any airline penalty. A non-refundable fare returns none of the fare amount if you cancel.
The refundability of each fare is shown clearly during search and checkout, and again on your booking confirmation. Please review it before you pay — booking a non-refundable fare means accepting that the fare amount is not returned if your plans change.
How to request a refund or cancellation
Cancellations and refunds are handled by our team — there is no automated self-cancel. To start a request, contact us on WhatsApp at +966 58 002 8428 or by email at [email protected] with your booking reference and the passenger last name.
For refundable fares, we calculate any airline penalty and the net refundable amount and confirm it with you before proceeding. Nothing is cancelled until you approve the figures.
Traveller-initiated cancellation
When you choose to cancel, the airline's cancellation penalty for your fare type may apply and is deducted from any refund due. On non-refundable fares this typically means no fare refund at all.
The Flighterz service charge is separate from the airline fare and is non-refundable, regardless of the fare type you booked.
Refund processing time
A refund is released in two stages: first the airline processes and approves it, then your payment provider returns the funds. Airline processing time varies by carrier and fare, and the payment provider then typically takes around 7–14 business days to post the amount to your account.
We process your refund as soon as the airline confirms it and will keep you updated on its status.
Refund method
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method used for the booking. For corporate accounts, the refunded amount is credited back to the company wallet rather than to an individual card.
Airline-initiated changes or cancellations
If the operating airline changes your schedule significantly or cancels your flight, you are covered by that airline's policy for such events — even on an otherwise non-refundable fare. Depending on the airline, you may rebook onto an alternative flight or request a refund.
Our team will explain the options the airline makes available and help you claim the one you choose.
No-shows
If you do not check in and do not board your flight, the booking is treated as a no-show. No-show tickets are typically non-refundable under airline fare rules, and any residual value depends entirely on the airline's policy for that fare.
VAT on service fees
VAT applied to Flighterz service fees is handled in line with Saudi VAT regulations and ZATCA rules. Where a service fee is non-refundable, any VAT charged on it is treated accordingly under those rules.
